Biography

Dr. Bahar Ulupinar is full professor of Finance at West Chester University (WCU). She holds B.A. in Business Administration from Ege University in Turkey (2004) and a Ph.D. in Finance from Louisiana State University (2010). Dr. Ulupinar taught Corporate Finance and Investments at Louisiana State University (LSU) for four years, and she was a recipient of the E. J. Ourso College of Business Teaching Award at LSU. She started teaching at WCU in 2010, was tenured and promoted to Associate Professor in 2015, and then promoted to Full Professor in 2020. Dr. Ulupinar’s early research focused on analyst bias and corporate governance. She has a growing interest in political economy and numerous publications that examine the effect of political environment on firms’ decisions. She teaches Introduction to Corporate Finance, Intermediate Corporate Finance, International Finance, Personal Finance, and MBA courses. Aside from finance courses, she is team-teaching the first year experience course for incoming business majors. Dr. Ulupinar has taken many significant roles at the college and university level. She has served on major university-level committees such as Academic Recognition Committee, Tenure and Promotion Workshop Committee, and Tenure and Promotion Committee. She was appointed as the College of Business and Public Management's data coordinator in 2019 and her role is to analyze survey, test, and rubric results to contribute to the AACSB accreditation of the Business School. She was appointed as Faculty Associate to Dean in 2022 to assist the Dean’s office for AACSB accreditation. She is married with two beautiful kids. She enjoys kayaking, hiking, traveling, community service, and jewelry making.
