Roommates
Living with a roommate is a big part of the college experience. It’s an opportunity to meet someone new, learn from different perspectives, and build connections while living in the residence halls.
Finding the right roommate can feel both exciting and challenging, which is why we provide tools to help make the process easier.
In WCU Managed Housing and USH Affiliated Housing, you can request a roommate, search for one using our roommate matching tools, or have a roommate assigned.
Selecting a Roommate
Already have a roommate in mind? You can request to live with another student (yes--even as a first-year student!) or choose your preferred roommate.
WCU Managed Housing:
WCU Managed Housing Roommate Selection will open March 25, 2026. The priority deadline
to select a roommate is June 8, 2026.
Within the housing application, you will complete the Roommate Matching Lifestyle Questionnaire to help you find and connect with students who may be a good roommate match.

- Log in to RamPortal
- Locate the “Housing & Dining” card and click on “Housing & Dining”.
- Click on “Application for On-Campus Living” at the top of the page and select the Academic Year 2025-2026 term session to apply.
- Complete all necessary elements of the application including, but not limited to: Emergency Contact, On Campus Prerequisite Form, Meal Plan Selection, Community Living Standards review, Alcohol EDU
- Choose WCU Managed as your preferred housing provider
- Complete the questions on the Roommate Matching Lifestyle Questionnaire
- Participate in the Roommate Selection portion following the Roommate Matching Lifestyle

- Students with a preferred roommate in mind will need their preferred roommates’ WCUPA email address to search and match
USH Affiliated Housing:
USH Affiliated roommate selection will open April 27, 2026 and close on May 31, 2026. Students who have completed their USH lease will be able to roommate match with other

Looking for a roommates? WCU Managed and USH Affiliated offer roommate search and roommate matching programs that allow students to fill out a bio, answer a roommate matching lifestyle questionnaire, and connect with other students.
WCU Managed Housing
Roommate Matching is accessible in the WCU Managed Housing Application after choosing
a preferred housing provider in the Application for On-Campus Living between mid-March
and June 1, 2025.

USH Affiliated residences:
Roommate selection is accessible in early May in the USH Resident Portal.
Assigned Roommate(s)
Roommate matching/selection is recommended, but not required. If you do not match/select a roommate(s), a roommate(s) will be assigned to you.
