Bio

Dr. Tabassum Fahim Ruby is an associate professor in the department of Women’s and Gender Studies at West Chester University. Her research centers on Islam and gender discourses, and on modernity and secularism. She is the author of Muslim Women's Rights: Contesting Liberal-Secular Sensibilities in Canada. The book examines the ways liberal-secular normative values have shaped and informed the question of Muslim women’s rights. She also discusses her book in a podcast conducted by New Books.
