What is the ASA?

The Academic Support & Advocacy Center (ASA) provides holistic support for undergraduate students at WCU. Our Student Success Coordinators (SSCs) are dedicated and highly trained professionals who help students navigate the transition to college by prioritizing academic, cultural, emotional, financial, intellectual, and social needs. ASA works alongside faculty advisors to ensure students feel supported from New Student Orientation through their first year.

Why ASA?

Starting college can be overwhelming, and many students struggle with belonging, organization, and academic expectations. ASA’s approach, developed with the Committee for Advising Excellence (CAE) and Moon Shot, ensures students have a trusted ally to help them transition successfully.

How Does ASA Help?

  • Student Success Coordinators (SSC) meet students at Orientation and provide ongoing support.
  • SSCs are available year-round to support students.
  • SSCs provide a variety of services including holistic support for all and enrollment support, depending on the department.
