Leads with Passion to

EMPOWER WOMEN AND STRENGTHEN COMMUNITIES

Taylor Boyle ’23 is known to the University community as a force for change.

As assistant director of events and communications for the West Chester University Foundation, Boyle has focused her career on philanthropy, nonprofit advocacy, and women’s empowerment. Her deep connection to WCU, both as an interdisciplinary studies major and now as an alumna, has allowed her to make a lasting impact on the University community and beyond.

“Empowering others, especially women, has always been the driving force behind everything I do,” Boyle said. “Whether it’s breaking down educational barriers or giving women with disabilities the tools to lead, I believe in creating spaces where individuals can realize their worth, unlock their full potential, and create opportunities to give back.”

Boyle’s passion for advocacy and philanthropy began long before her time at WCU. As a high school sophomore in Delaware County, she founded Pause for a Cause, an organization that raised awareness for underrepresented health issues like autism, heart disease, suicide prevention, and Alzheimer’s.

“I sought to create a club that aligned with causes I believed needed more recognition,” she said. “Today, Pause for a Cause continues to thrive at my alma mater [Monsignor Bonner & Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School], ensuring future generations stay committed to these critical causes.”

Her passion for advocacy carried over into her time at WCU, where she immersed herself in the Panhellenic community, holding leadership roles focused on philanthropy and fundraising.

One of her most notable accomplishments was as an undergraduate creating a chapter of Circle of Sisterhood, a nonprofit dedicated to removing educational barriers for women, to West Chester’s sorority community in 2019. As its first leader at WCU, Boyle was able to create such an impact that Ginny Carroll, the founder of the organization, visited WCU to speak about supporting women’s education.

Empowering others, especially women, has always been the driving force behind everything I do.

The cause is still important to today’s students, said Dr. Lexie McCarthy, director of off-campus and commuter services.

Dr. McCarthy first met Boyle when she was an undergraduate student. Boyle’s passion for philanthropy made her stand out.

“Taylor is one of the most motivated students I have ever worked with,” Dr. McCarthy said. “She has such a heart for service.”

Boyle continues to bridge her passion for philanthropy with her love for WCU while working at the WCU Foundation. Her role involves managing high-profile events, donor relations, and communication strategies that help provide scholarships and resources for students.

“My passion for philanthropy has always been at the heart of my advocacy and leadership work. I believe in turning my passions into purpose, and this drive to create meaningful change has been a central theme in my life,” she said. “I am constantly seeking ways to make a difference. This mission continues to fuel my work at the WCU Foundation, where I can help support students through scholarships and resources.”

But her work doesn’t stop there. Boyle also serves as the Pennsylvania State Director for Miss Amazing, a national organization that empowers girls and women with disabilities. Under her leadership, the Pennsylvania Miss Amazing event moved to WCU. The next event, Amplify 2025, will be hosted April 26 and 27 at Sykes Student Union.

“Through my work with Miss Amazing, I have helped foster confidence and self esteem in these women,” Boyle said.

Dr. McCarthy believes Boyle’s impact extends far beyond campus.

“She’s a West Chester philanthropist,” Dr. McCarthy said. “She does this because it matters to her. She’s so creative and driven. She’s an exceptional woman and an excellent representation of what West Chester is all about.”
