1960s
Tina Sloan Green ’66 was named the 2025 recipient of the Theodore Roosevelt Award from the NCAA, which is the highest honor the NCAA may confer on an individual.
1980s
Lisa Wright Bryant ’87 was honored with the Drum Major for Justice Award by The Society at WCU on January 24, 2025.
Sean Quarmby ’88 retired from the United States Secret Service in 2015 and is presently a professor of criminal justice at Central Piedmont College in Charlotte, NC. Quarmby recently published his first novel: Room 23 – A Secret Service Agent’s Story of Espionage and Intrigue. The novel was inspired by Quarmby’s own experiences as an agent.
The investiture of Michigan State University President Kevin M. Guskiewicz ’89, Ph.D., was held Sunday, September 29, 2024, in the Wharton Center for Performing Arts. 1990s
Christopher A. Goldberg M’94 recently participated in a dedication for the Gladys West Elementary School in Fredericksburg, VA. Dr. West is recognized as the team leader in the calculations that became GPS through more than 40 years of service with the U.S. Naval research team. Still considered a “hidden figure,” this Black STEM pioneer was the role model of Aliyah and the STEMsational Problem Solvers: What’s Cooking?, a children’s book Goldberg published in November 2022. The book was introduced during the ceremony, which drew more than 125 people, including several politicians.
Eric P. Jackson ’96 was inducted into the WCU Athletics Hall of Fame for men’s lacrosse on February 1, 2025.
2000s
Daniel Schaeberle ’03 was named 2024 Shape PA high school health and physical education local teacher of the year for Cumberland, Dauphin, York, and Adams counties. He teaches at Northeastern High School in Manchester, PA.
Justin M. Derrick ’06 is principal at Cesar E. Chavez High School in California. The school was selected as a National ESEA Distinguished School for 2024 in the category of exceptional student performance and academic growth. Cesar E. Chavez High School is one of 69 schools nationwide to be chosen for this honor.
Brittany L. (Yetter) Cloutier ’08 was inducted into the WCU Athletics Hall of Fame for women’s soccer on February 1, 2025.
2010s
Joe Gunkel was inducted into the WCU Athletics Hall of Fame for baseball (drafted in junior year season) on February 1, 2025.
Alexandra H. Black ’10, DNP, CNM is now a Certified Nurse-Midwife at Geisinger Health and serves patients in multiple locations in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre region. She earned her doctor of nursing practice at Frontier Nursing University in 2021.
Sarah J. Oswald ’10 was inducted into the WCU Athletics Hall of Fame for women’s soccer on February 1, 2025.
Erin MacNamee ’11 was inducted into the WCU Athletics Hall of Fame for softball on February 1, 2025.
Victoria A. Dugan ’13 was inducted into the WCU Athletics Hall of Fame for women’s lacrosse on February 1, 2025.
Theresa M. Giunta ’13 was inducted into the WCU Athletics Hall of Fame for women’s lacrosse on February 1, 2025.
William P. Michelson M’13 was promoted to chief financial officer of Delaware law firm Morris, Nichols, Arsht & Tunnell LLP in January 2025.
McKinley A. Foster ’15 performed as Guitar 2 in Come From Away, a musical presented by Ensemble Arts Philly and the Shubert Organization and based on the true story of 7,000 stranded passengers and the small town in Newfoundland that welcomed them.
Kenneth L. Johnson M’17 was honored with the Drum Major for Justice Award by The Society at WCU on January 24, 2025.
Aliya V. Ellis ’18 accepted a position as financial advisor with JECohen Wealth and Investment Management Firm in North Carolina. Ellis is a native of Philadelphia with professional accomplishments that include earning top-performer recognition at prestigious firms such as Northwestern Mutual, Lincoln Financial Group, and Police and Fire Federal Credit Union. Beyond her financial expertise, she is a committed community leader, serving as a literacy advocate and library support volunteer. She holds a bachelor of science with a concentration in psychology and health science.

Digital camera and/or cell phone shots should be taken on the highest resolution setting available.
